Manuel Chavez, Jr., 80, of Tulia passed away on Monday, September 30, 2024. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, October 3, 2024 in the Catholic Church of the Holy Spirit with Father Avitus officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Tulia.
Manuel was born on July 27, 1944, in Harlingen, Texas, to Manuel and Maria Chavez, Sr. Manuel grew up to be a hardworking individual. Throughout his life, he dedicated himself to his work at the Tulia North Plains Compress, a testament to his dedication and strong work ethic, retiring in 2020. On October 30, 1964, Manuel tied the knot with his beloved wife, Maria Ester Chavez at Saint Williams Church in Tulia marking the beginning of a beautiful journey together.
Manuel's talents were varied and plentiful; his green thumb made his garden bloom with beauty, his welding skills were unmatched, and his love for music was apparent to all who knew him. He found joy in the company of his beloved pets, particularly his dog "Chata," and his cherished cats and most of all he loved his girls.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Manuel and Maria Chavez, Sr., his wife, Maria Ester Chavez, his son, Gabriel Chavez, his brothers, Jose Luis Chavez, Hector Flores and Crisanto Aguilar, Jr.
He is survived by his daughters, Michelle Subealdea and husband Eddie of Tulia, Marcella Sanders and husband Oba Joe of Tulia and Laura Chavez and fiancé Christopher Satterwhite of Ruidoso, NM., his brothers and sisters, Lupita Arguelles of Harlingen, Eduard Chavez and wife Otila of Harlingen., Graciela Ramos and husband David of Harlingen, Mary Bernal and husband George of Victoria and Janie Rangel of Harlingen, his grandchildren, Gabriela Marie Chavez and wife Kerrie, Lee Anthony Perez and fiancé Rebecca, Ricardo Ramirez and wife J’Lyn and Carlos Subealdea and wife Anne, her great grandchildren, Payton Perez, Beau Perez, Julian Chavez, Jackson Chavez, Jesiah Chavez and Jade Ramirez.
