She attended Olton High School and later West Texas State College. On October 24, 1959, she married Riley Davis True, of Plainview. Together, the Trues raised two children, Deborah Kay and Riley Mark on their family farm. As their children grew, so did their roles becoming the best Nana and Grandaddy to their grandchildren. Together they traveled the country with Plains Cotton Cooperative Association and Hale County Farm Bureau advocating for agriculture and growing friendships and faith along the way. Mrs. True was a dedicated member of St. John’s, Trinity, and then Grace United Methodist Churches in Plainview. She was committed to her church family and looked forward to the time spent in fellowship. She also enjoyed cross-stitching, knitting, collecting figurines, and gardening. Her garden and grape vines fed many families and lots of stories and laughter were shared shelling peas or picking produce. Mrs. True was employed at Hale County Farm Bureau, Custom Farm Services, and City National Bank before her retirement. She remained a committed family and community member in Olton and loved to visit her family and participate in local events. Mrs. True is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her brother, Leroy Hackler, her sisters, Mildred Walker and Genna Price, and her daughter Debi True Rounds. She is survived by her son, Riley Mark True and wife Mary of Plainview, her grandson Randall Smith and his wife Christina of Lubbock, her three granddaughters Rebecca Mason and husband Curtis of Round Rock, Kaitlyn Miller and her husband Markus of Emporia, Kansas, and Kristen Steph and husband Jacob of Justin, and her seven great grandchildren Braden McDonald, Truman and Declan Smith of Lubbock, Townes Mason of Round Rock, Rileigh and Trey Miller of Emporia, Kansas, and Baby Girl Steph of Justin due in May. The family requests that memorials made in her honor are directed to Grace United Methodist Church or Cal Farley’s Boy’s Ranch.
