Maria Oralia Huron, 84, of Tulia passed away on Thursday, November 28, 2024. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Monday, December 2, 2024 in the Catholic Church of the Holy Spirit with Father Hector Madrigal officiating and Deacon Richard Martinez assisting. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Tulia.
A rosary will be held at 5:00 to 8:00 PM, Sunday, December 1, 2024 in the Kornerstone Chapel.
Maria Oralia or known as “Lala” was born on June 25, 1940 in Mission, Texas to Paz Sr. and Dolores (Temelloso) Gonzales. Maria was a lifelong resident of Tulia, where she attended local schools and dedicated many years of her life to serving her community. She worked at Dolly's Restaurants, where her culinary skills brought joy to countless patrons. Maria also provided housecleaning services for various families in Tulia, always with a smile and a warm heart.
In January 1968, Maria married the love of her life, Juan Cancio Huron, in Hale Center, Texas and together they nurtured a beautiful family. Maria’s infectious spirit and love for life were evident in everything she did. She had a zest for dancing that made her the life of every gathering, often punctuating her joy with her signature peace sign.
A woman of style, Maria took pride in her appearance and had a cherished collection of fashionable shoes. She was also a devoted Guadalupana and an active member of the Catholic Church of the Holy Spirit, where she found comfort and community.
Maria was a dedicated caregiver, providing love and support to her grandchildren, nieces, and nephews, who will forever remember her as a guiding light in their lives.
Maria O. Huron will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all those who had the honor of knowing her.
She is preceded by her parents, Paz Sr. and Dolores Gonzales, her husband, Juan Cancio Huron, her siblings, Lupita Casanova, Mary Lou Chapa, Tino Gonzales, Martha Isaguirre, Emma Castillo, Ester Martinez, Eva Perez and Edna Garza.
She is survived by her children, Rita Huron, Patsy Huron and Juan C. “Gordo” Jr. Huron, her brothers, Paz Gonzales Jr, and wife Delia, Ramiro Gonzales and wife Josie, and Ruben Gonzales Sr. and wife Josefa, five grandchildren, Delissa Villa, Jesse Huron and wife Addie, Lexie Barrientez, Maximus Alvarez, and Mattalee Alvarez, two great-grandchildren, Audrina Trevino and Jayden Huron.
