Maria M. Torres (Tulia)

Tulia, Texas—Maria M. Torres, 91, passed away on Thursday, August 5, 2021. Funeral services will be at 1:00 pm Monday, August 9, 2021, in the Kornerstone Funeral Directors Chapel with Pastora Sylvia Malave officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery in Tulia. Arrangements are under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Tulia.

A prayer service will be from 5:30 to 7:00 pm on Sunday, August 8, 2021, in the Kornerstone Funeral Directors chapel.

Maria was born on January 30, 1930, in La Villa Fuentes, Coahuila, Mexico to Alfonso and Consuelo (Ortiz) Maldonado. She worked several years at the Tulia Compress before she married Daniel Torres. She loved sewing, loved to travel, and loved her plants and flowers.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband and one sister Beatriz Cerda.

Survivors include her children; Esther Lopez, Idalia Rivas, Irma Pulido, Jose Torres, Delia Arvizo, Rosa Aguayo, Daniel Torres, Guadalupe “Lupe” Contreras, Connie Rodriguez, her siblings; Alfonso Maldonado, Elvira Maldonado, Virginia Maldonado, Maricela Grimaldo and Sylvia Villegas, nineteen grandchildren, forty-three great grandchildren and three great, great grandchildren.
