Marie Atkins (Plainview)

Marie Atkins, 85, of Plainview passed away on Thursday July 29, 2021. A graveside service will be held 10:00 A.M. Saturday, July 31, 2021at Parklawn Memorial Gardens under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors.

A visitation will be held 9:00 A.M. until service time on Saturday at the Funeral Home.

Marie was born on August 1, 1935 to Herman Dewey and Alma Mae (Douglas) Driver in Hamilton County, Texas. She grew up in Hico and attended schools there. She graduated from Plainview High School and was on the volleyball team. She married James Atkins on February 7, 1954 in Plainview, Texas. She started working for John Page in the grocery industry for several years. She worked along side her husband’s company and served as the company’s secretary. She was a member of the First Baptist Church. She self-taught herself sewing and crocheting and loved her kids and grandkids.

She is preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Herman D. “Sonny” Driver, and an infant granddaughter, Kelli Elizabeth Pevehouse.

She is survived by her husband, James Atkins of Plainview; her two daughters, Mary Pevehouse and James of Bracketville, Texas, Sondra Loafman and Roy of Plainview; two brothers, J.C. Driver and Joy of Lubbock, Doyle Driver of Plainview; grandchildren, Casey Loafman, Rance Loafman, Landon Loafman, Lori Loafman, Robin Guldenpfennig, Trevor Pevehouse, Zachary Pevehouse; great grandchildren, Connor, Hadlee, Reid, Raelynn, Callen, RoryBelle, Camden, Rhett, and Hudson.
