Marilyn O'Daniel (Tulia)

Marilyn Faye O'Daniel, 88, of Tulia, Texas passed away Wednesday, July 11, 2018 in Brownfield, Texas.

Visitation will be at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, July 18th at Kornerstone Funeral Directors in Tulia.  Services will be at 10 a.m.Thursday, July 19th at First Baptist Church, Tulia with Charles Davenport officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery, Tulia.

Marilyn was born in Lubbock, Texas on Oct 28, 1929 to Herbert “H.M.” and Myrtle “Merle” Chick.  She graduated from Lubbock High School in 1946 and attended Texas Tech University.  Marilyn married James Ross O’Daniel on June 17, 1950 in Lubbock and were together for over 64 years.

Marilyn established a home west of Tulia where she worked hard as a homemaker and mother of three sons.  She was active in the First Baptist Church, Home Artist Club, Red Hat Club, and Sunshine Girls. Her talents included cooking for family and friends, gardening, arts and crafts, and selflessly volunteering to help those in need.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents, her stepmother Ruth Chick, and her husband Ross.

Marilyn is survived by her sister Sharon Cobb and husband Ken of Rowlett, Texas; her three sons--Dale and wife Charlotte of Tulia, Pat and wife Mary Jane of Brownfield, Gary and wife Angela of Clovis; five grandchildren--Aarika Proctor and husband Russell of Tulia, Ryan O'Daniel and wife Angela of Herndon, Virginia, Sarah Wysocki and husband Jared of Shelby Township, Michigan, Quinn O'Daniel and wife Hailey of Las Cruces, and Ashlyn O'Daniel of Clovis; two great grandchildren--Mikayla and Breck Proctor of Tulia; and a host of other relatives and longtime friends.

The family suggests memorials be made to the charity of your choice.
