She and Doc lived in Lubbock, Texas, Albuquerque, New Mexico, and finally settled in Plainview, Texas. They were members of St. John’s Methodist Church when they first settled in Plainview. Later, they joined Trinity United Methodist Church. Before moving to Amarillo, they were members of First United Methodist Church.

Mary Helen and Doc loved to square dance and attended many of the Texas State square dances.  In their later years, they were members of the Senior Dance Club in Plainview and attended dances regularly. They moved to Amarillo in 2021.

Mary Helen loved God, and she loved her family.  She is preceded in death by her parents and an infant brother, Melvin Stephens.  She is survived by her husband, Doc, her children:   Steve Cross; Dolores (Jerry) Ticer; Tonya (Doug) Keesee; and Rick Cross; grandchildren Leah (Bryan) Beck; Avery (Christina) Ticer; Dustin (Andrea) Glenn; Devin (Aidyn) Glenn; Seth Cross; and Sean Cross; and great grandchildren Bart Ticer, Rose Ticer, and June Ticer; and Aspen Glenn.
