Mary Lou Rodriguez (Tulia)

Tulia, Texas—Mary Lou Rodriguez 71, went to be with our Lord Jesus Christ on Friday, June 10, 2022. Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM Wednesday, June 15, 2022 in the Kornerstone Funeral Directors Chapel with Rev. Israel Rodriguez officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery in Tulia.

A visitation for family and friends will be held on Tuesday, June 14, 2022, from 3:00 to 6:00 PM at the funeral home.

Mary Lou was born on November 5, 1950 in Tucumcari, New Mexico to Benny and Bernada (Garcia) Martinez. Mary married Pedro and they were happily married for 45 years. She served her community in volunteering at the Tulia Food Bank. Nearly every morning Mary Lou would visit her friend Victoria Benavidez to drink coffee. She loved to travel and was always on the go. She enjoyed playing any board games and Spanish Bingo. She loved her grandchildren very much and would spend time with them.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Benny and Bernada Martinez; husband, Pedro Rodriguez; her brothers and sisters, Martin Martinez, Ralph Martinez and Rosa Wilson and one grandchild, Daniel Gonzales.

She is survived by her children, Mary Gonzales of Plainview, Joe Ann Barela of Plainview, Bernice Barela of Altus, OK., Rosie Garcia of Canyon and Israel Rodriguez of Tulia; her brother and sisters, Johnny Martinez of South Texas, Emilia Hernandez of Amarillo and Antonia Ramirez of Amarillo; 12 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.
