Mary Rangel (Plainview)

Mary Rangel, 73, of Plainview, Texas passed away on January 27, 2024. Funeral mass will take place on Wednesday, January 31, 2024 at 2:00 P.M. at Our Lady of Guadalupe with Father George Poonley officiating. Burial will follow at Plainview Memorial Park. A rosary will take place on Tuesday, January 30, 2024 at 6:00 P.M. at Kornerstone Funeral Directors Chapel. Services are under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. Mary was born on March 10, 1950, to Jose and Josefina Ruiz in Cotulla, Texas. She married the love of her life, Guadalupe Rangel Jr., in Hereford, Texas in 1968. Mary embraced a simple and fulfilling life that revolved around her family and faith. Family was Mary's greatest joy, and she always made sure to spend quality time with her grandchildren, creating countless cherished memories that will forever warm their hearts. Mary's contagious smile and joyful laughter made her a delightful presence wherever she went. In her free time, Mary found solace and excitement in the vibrant lights and sounds of the casinos. Devoted to her faith, Mary was a devoted member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Plainview, Texas. She actively participated in church activities and found comfort in her spiritual community. Her faith was a guiding force that provided her with strength, compassion, and joy. Her experiences taught her the true value of love, kindness, and cherishing the simple joys life had to offer. Mary Rangel will be fondly remembered for her warm smile, unwavering faith, and her love for family and the simple pleasures in life. She leaves behind a legacy of love and happiness that will forever be treasured by those fortunate enough to have known her. Mary is preceded in death by her loving husband, Guadalupe Rangel Jr.; her parents, Jose Ruiz Jr. and Josefina Ruiz; her two sisters, Lupe Medina and Delia Vigil. Mary is survived by her daughters, Michelle Thomas and husband Bill of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Christina Peña and husband Marty of Plainview; her son Michael Rangel and wife Elizabeth of Hale Center; her brothers, Joe Ruiz Jr. and wife Susie of Hereford, Jimmy Ruiz and wife Victoria of Amarillo; her three sisters, Vera Peña and husband Albert of Hereford, Janie Frausto and husband Eddie of Hereford, and Dora Pesqueda of Somerset; eleven grandchildren, Kenneth, Aaron, and Mikayla Thomas, Aubree, and Tanner Peña, JoMichael, Christopher, Abigail, Marli, Kirsty, and Anthony; and twenty six loving great-grandchildren; and her beloved dog, Max (Maxie)
