Maurine Cornelius (Plainview)

Maurine's Funeral Livestream Maurine Cornelius, 96, of Plainview passed away January 25, 2024 in Amarillo. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 30, 2024 at 11:00 at Kornerstone Funeral Directors Chapel in Plainview, Texas. Maurine was born June 6, 1927 in Hale County, Texas to Robert W. Borchardt and Annie Miller Borchardt. She attended Bellview School through eighth grade, and graduated from Plainview High School in 1944. On June 6, 1948, Maurine married Jimmy Cornelius. For most of the next 73 years, they lived on and farmed the same section of land on which she was born. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Jimmy, infant son Terry Austin Cornelius, and her three siblings, Robert E. Borchardt, Evelyn Williamson, and Joan Borchardt. She is survived by her children, Anna and Joe Price, Linda Rice, Rhonda and Tony Abbott, Jimmy and Heidi Cornelius, sister-in-law Sue Kiely; eleven grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was much loved by her family and friends and by her caregivers at The Reserve of Amarillo. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to a favorite charity.
