Michael was born in Plainview, Texas on September 1st, 1954 to parents Arnold and Sue Dietrich. He graduated from Lockney High School in 1972 and attended WTAMU where he enjoyed playing football, before returning to the family farm. He was a Lead-man at the Tye company for many years where he made lifelong friends. In 1980 he married the love of his life, JoBeth Stallings and moved to Providence, Texas where he lived until his passing. Michael spent his lifetime farming; he loved getting his hands dirty and being a good steward of the land. Later in life, Michael’s favorite thing to do was to go on Gator rides around the farm and check the crops. His greatest pride and joy were his kids and grandkids. He was a patient and loving role model to all and took every opportunity to meet new people. He had an unwavering positive outlook on life and shared his joyful demeanor with everyone around him. As a Christian, Michael enjoyed studying the Bible and sharing his faith with anyone who would listen. He looked forward to Bravehearts every Tuesday morning where he loved visiting with his friends about the Lord. When Michael wasn’t farming, he was busy raising a garden for the farmers’ market where he spent more time talking than selling produce. He loved collecting rocks and always had a couple in his pocket to talk about. Spending time in his workshop, creating things from wood or metal, was one of his favorite hobbies. Michael loved reading and writing and spent hours creating journals full of his memories for his kids and grandkids. In his retirement, Papo loved chasing his eleven grandkids to all of their school and sports events. He enjoyed creating ideas for Kingdom Warriors to make learning fun for young Christian men. When family was around, he was known to fire up the grill and cook enough food for Cox’s Army.
He will be missed by his wife JoBeth Dietrich, brother Jimmy Dietrich of Providence, children Aaron and wife Jolee Dietrich of Providence, Bethany and husband Cole Williams of Providence, Jalee and husband Travis Victory of Cordell, Oklahoma and eleven grandkids who dearly loved their PapO, and countless friends who he considered family. He is preceded in death by his parents Arnold and Sue Dietrich, daughter Kyra Dietrich, brother-in-law Allen Stallings and in laws Claude and Linda Stallings.
The family suggests memorials to the Harvest Christian Youth Department, 4411 Olton Rd., Plainview, Texas 79072.
