Celebration of Life Service will be September 18 at 11:00 a.m. at the Garland Street Church of Christ in Plainview under the direction of Kornerstone. Mike was born December 17 1948 in Lubbock to Ford and Mary Jane Gipson Talley. He graduated from Mineral Well High School and continued his education at Fort Worth Christian College and Oklahoma Christian University. He began his life-long career in ministry in Dodge City, Kansas, as a Youth Minister. He then spent two years in Lubbock attending Sunset International Bible Institute to further prepare himself for ministry. It was there that he met Clovia Riggan and they married January 29, 1976. Together they went on to serve in Churches of Christ in Texas, Oklahoma, and New Mexico. Mike held positions as Youth Minister, Singles Minister, Education and Involvement, and Pulpit Minister. While working, he graduated from Abilene Christian University with a Masters in Gerontology which later led to his work as a Hospice Chaplain for Lakeview Christian Home in Carlsbad, New Mexico. He enjoyed his last full-time work in Kress, Texas, and after eight years there, he retired due to increasing difficulties with Parkinson's Disease. The Talleys have lived the past ten years in Plainview where they have enjoyed the supportive fellowship of their Garland Street Church of Christ family. Mike is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Clovia, his son Andrew Ford Talley, his daughter Sarah Cassara and husband Mark, two grandsons, Pascal and Kelvin Cassara, his sister Janey Kay Zanowiak and husband Larry, and many nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials may be sent to the Children's Home of Lubbock, Sunset international Bible Institute in Lubbock, or Lakeview Christian Home in Carlsbad, New Mexico.
