Mildred “Mim” Mote, 88, passed away on Friday, February 28, 2025. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, March 3, 2025, at the First Baptist Church in Tulia. Services are under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Tulia.

A visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 PM on Sunday, March 2, 2025, at the funeral home.

Mim was born on April 15, 1936, in Crosbyton, Texas. Mildred brightened the lives of many from an early age. After graduating from Tulia High School in 1954, she embarked on a beautiful journey alongside her beloved husband, Joe Wood Mote, whom she married on January 14, 1956, at the First Baptist Church. Together, they created a life filled with memories and cherished moments.

Mildred dedicated her career to supporting her community, working as a secretary at the Swisher Extension Service and lending her talents to Jerry's Jewelry. For about fifteen years, she and Joe proudly owned and operated the Tulia Floral, a beloved local business. Mildred's nurturing spirit shone brightest in her decade-long role as a caregiver for Dorris Amburn, along with her devoted care for Wynell George.

Mim loved oil painting and was always delighted to capture moments for her family, ensuring she was present for her grandchildren's and great-grandchildren's school events, rodeos, stock shows, and sports activities. She had a talent for spoiling them all, filling their lives with warmth and encouragement.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Ada Peel; her daughter, Brenda Jo Mote; four brothers, Manning, Harold, Robert, and William Peel; and two sisters, Margaret Peel and Evelyn Allen.

She is survived by her husband, Joe Wood Mote of Tulia; her sons, Forrest Mote and wife Dorinda of Amarillo, and Stanton Mote of Amarillo; her niece, Libbie Reeves; her grandchildren, Khrissen Barbee and husband Justin, Shea Brown and husband JD, Kelvin Mote, Dalton Mote and fiancée Madilyn Moran, Dillon Mote and fiancée Caitlin Van Ongevalle, and Tilly Mote; her great-grandchildren, Alexa Ryder and husband Donald, Summer Randol and husband Luke, Krese Barbee (the favorite), Mackenzie, and Ivy Brown.

Memorials may be made to Swisher 4-H.
