Norma Irene Cruz (Tulia)

Tulia, Texas-Norma Irene Cruz, 53, of Plainview passed away on Tuesday, June 19, 2018 in Lubbock, Texas. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, June 23, 2018 in the Catholic Church of the Holy Spirit in Tulia with Monsignor Arturo Meza officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery in Tulia under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Tulia.

A rosary will be held on Friday, June 22, 2018 from 5:30 to 7:00 pm in the Kornerstone Funeral Directors Chapel of Tulia.

Beloved Mother, Daughter, Sister, Aunt, Cousin, Wife, Teacher and Friend to many. 

Norma lived a full life and was passionate about a lot of things.  Her greatest passion was her daughter Sammi.  Her most joyous moments came with the birth of her daughter and seeing her graduate high school.  She was so proud of this achievement.  Norma was the Kanga to Sammi's Roo. 

She loved being a part of so many children’s lives as a teacher in both traditional school and catechism.  She was overjoyed teaching Pre-K and loved hearing a generation of Plainview kids call her name in public.

Flowers! Norma loved beautiful flowers!  Just as she did with her students, she planted seeds, nurtured them and took joy in watching them bloom.

She loved God and was a woman of great faith.  She had a smile that would light up the room and she would giggle like a school girl when she got tickled.

She is preceded in death by: Brother Johnny

She is survived by: Daughter Sammantha Hernandez, Father Miguel G. Cruz Sr., Mother Irene Reyes Cruz Brothers Miguel Jr. and his wife Cynthia and Joe Anthony, Nephews Daniel Cruz, Anthony Cruz, Niece Arianna Cruz, Great nephews Riley Rasnick, Kai Rasnick, Great Niece Henley Rasnick, Ex Husband Chilo Hernandez, Sammi's Paternal Grandmother Maria Hernandez.
