Orville A Ford, 95, died on August 6,2018 in Amarillo, Texas. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Friday, August 10, 2018 at Kornerstone Funeral Directors Chapel with military burial to follow in Center Plains Cemetery in Cotton Center. Orville was born to Arthur and Fern Ford January 31, 1923 in the rural community of Grovesville, Texas East of Shallowater. He moved with his parents and 4 siblings to a farm south of Hale Center in 1928. He attended the Hale Center Schools and graduated in 1941. He joined the Military Services in 1942 where he served in North Africa, France and Germany. He received the Bronze Star along with other awards for service with the 100th Infantry Division. In 1946 he was released from Military Service and enrolled in College in Lubbock and worked for Ritchey Motor Company in Hale Center until 1950 when he was recalled into Active Military Duty. He served the 101st Signal Battalion in Korea where he took part in the 1st United Counter Offensive and the CCF Spring offensive. Orville and Zelda Meador married November 3, 1951. They lived in Plainview until 1955 when they moved to Lubbock. He was employed by the Department of Defense where he served 30 years and retired in 1986. In 1986 he retired to their Hale Center farm where he farmed until 2001. He is survived by one son Ronald Ed Ford of Hale Center and one Daughter Robbie Lea Anderson and son-in-law James Anderson of Amarillo, 12 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
