A live stream of Oscar’s memorial service will be broadcast at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 2, 2021. Oscar was born on August 27, 1957 in Plainview, Texas to Valente C. & Maria Chavez. He married Sylvia Sanchez on October 27, 1989. Oscar graduated from Plainview High School and served in the U.S. Army. He worked for Area Community Hospice as a Chaplain. He served on the board of directors of the Texas New Mexico Hospice Organization where he was awarded Hospice Advocate for 2016. He was preceded in death by his father, Valente C. Chavez and one sister, Olivia Chavez. Oscar is survived by his wife Sylvia Chavez; three daughters, Marcie Polk & husband Kevin, Cassandra Chavez and Mariah Hipolito & husband Anthony; one son, Eric Vasquez & wife Christina; His mother, Maria Chavez; three brothers, Valente Chavez & wife Cathy, Adam Chavez & wife Cindy and Wally Chavez & wife RoseAnn; nine grandchildren and one great grandchild.
