Tulia, Texas—Paul Swanson, 73, passed away on Monday, April 27, 2020 in Haskell. A memorial service will be held at a later date. A visitation for friends and family will be held on Friday, May 1, 2020 from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm in the Kornerstone Funeral Directors Chapel. Cremation arrangements are under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Tulia. Paul was born on March 19, 1947 in Littlefield to O.R. “Bill” and Ollie Swanson. He graduated from Anton High School in 1965 and was drafted into the US Army in 1966. He served for 19 months in Germany training in communications. He was honorably discharged in 1968 and return to Happy, Texas with his best friend Kirk Williams. They attended West Texas State College in Canyon, together. Paul started working for Happy Food Bank slaughter house and also worked for Ready Fuel and Parts Co. He married Linda Mayes on June 26, 1970 in Happy and in 1973 they adopted Sherrie and Jeff. He started working for Mid-Plains Rural Telephone Co-op in the warehouse and worked his way up to Plant Supervisor and retired after 35 & ½ years. Paul loved his family and friends. He was, very, active in all of Jeff’s sporting events, from coaching soccer to T-ball to little dribblers and flag football. He was very active in Team Roping and he loved playing golf with his friends, he loved to fish at Lake Stamford. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Tulia and was proud to be named Deacon in 2012, serving his families in the church. Paul is preceded in death by his parents, one brother: Alvin Swanson and his in-laws: Jerral and Mary Mayes. He is survived by his wife: Linda Swanson of Tulia, his daughter: Sherrie Swanson of Aztec, New Mexico, his son: Jeff Swanson and wife Missy of Douglas, Wyoming, four grandchildren: Emma Swanson, Braden Swanson, Randy Ramsay and Lori Ramsay, four great grandchildren: Ava Barber, Ally Barber, Alleson Barber and Alex Barber and several nieces and nephews.
