Rafael (Tony) Salazar, Jr. (Tulia)

Tulia, Texas—Rafael (Tony) Salazar, Jr., 70, passed away on Saturday, February 26, 2022. Funeral services will be held at the Catholic Church of the Holy Spirit on Tuesday, March 1, 2022, at 11:00 am with Father David Contreras officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. Arrangements are under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Tulia.

A rosary will be held on Monday, February 28, 2022, from 6:00 to 7:00 pm at the funeral home.

Rafael was born on January 23, 1952, in Lamesa to Marta and Rafael Salazar, Sr.

He grew up in Happy, attending schools there until Junior High where they moved to Tulia, and he lived here the rest of his life. He married Dora Paiz on September 11, 1966, in Tulia. He worked for D/A Manufacturing for 43 years. He was a member of the Catholic Church of the Holy Spirit. He loved being outside working on his yard, fishing, exploring new sites.  He was a proud 4th degree member of Knights of Columbus.

He loved being around all his family. He was a great, son, brother, husband, father, uncle, cousin etc.

He is preceded in death by his parent: Marta and Rafael Salazar Sr, a son: Ralph Anthony Salazar and a sister: Amalia Salazar.

He is survived by his wife: Dora Paiz-Salazar of Tulia, Two Daughters: Judy Ann Vega and husband Israel of Amarillo and Geneva Paiz-Salazar and Johnny Grimaldo of Georgetown, one son: Raymond E. Salazar of Tulia, four brothers: Johnny Salazar of Tulia, Benito Salazar of Odessa, Alfredo Salazar of Little Rock, Arkansas, and Nick Salazar of Odessa, four sisters: Cruz Martinez, JoAnn Martinez, Sandra Cruz and Teresa Lujan, all of Odessa, eight grandchildren: Marcus Vega, Giana Garcia, Nicole Longoria, Nicholas Tobar, Emery Paiz, Christopher Lee Salazar, Celina Martinez and Raquel Salazar and 13 great grandchildren.
