Richard Ortiz (Plainview)

Richard Ortiz, 79 of Plainview passed away on Tuesday, October 24, 2023. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Friday, October 27, 2023 at Bethel Baptist Church with Phillip Hamilton officiating. Interment will follow in Plainview Memorial Park. Visitation will be held from 6-8 P.M. on Thursday, October 26, 2023 at the funeral home. Richard was born on December 14, 1943 in Big Lake, Texas to Pedro & Marcela Ortiz. He married Billie Reed on January 25, 1991 in Lubbock, Texas. He retired from the Railroad after 35 years of service. Richard was a big Dallas Cowboys fan. He was a member of the Living Water Emmaus Community and Bethel Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon. Richard is preceded in death by three brothers, Herbert Ortiz, Simon Ortiz and David Ortiz; three sisters, Barbara Cerda, Gloria Cerda and Pauline Fuentes and one daughter, Kelly Lewis He is survived by his wife, Billie JoAnn Ortiz; two daughters, Wendy Ortiz and Konny Kibbey; four sons, Richard Paul Ortiz, Ted Thompson, Michael Thompson and Mark Thompson; one brother, Tom Ortiz; fifteen grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren.
