Rickey Wayne White, Sr., 73, of Tulia entered into eternal rest on September 10, 2024. He was born on July 8, 1951 in Dallas, Texas to Willie and Dearo [Jones] White.
The family later moved to multiple locations including Longview, Seagoville, Memphis and Tulia, Texas where he grew up and attended public school. After graduating Tulia High School, Rickey later went to Texas A&M University. He earned his degree in Architectural Studies. Using his leadership ability and his talent in architecture, he worked for the Texas Department of Transportation for over 15 years, D/A Manufacturing Company in Tulia for over 30 years, and Critter Cargo in Kress, Texas for over 2 years.
As he navigated through all that life had to offer, in 1990, he declared his love for Michelle [Ervine]; and, married her in 2004 in Liberal, Kansas. As, they settled their family in Tulia. Rickey was a pillar in the community, was a source of knowledge and advice, and was always available to those in need. When the question is asked what was Rickey White, Sr. known for? From Tulia and the surrounding communities, to Dallas, to Kansas, to Louisiana, to Florida, to Arizona and everywhere in between…. Summed up, the answer is “Rickey was a good man, with a big heart, played softball until 60 years old, loved running with greyhounds, hunting, fishing, drawing, building, cooking BBQ, and family reunions. He will be missed!”
He was preceded in death by his parents Willie and Dearo White; his sisters Missionary Maetta Lewis and Evangelist Patsy Tatum; his brothers Melvin Brown, Herbert White, Bennie White, Tommy White, Sr., and Aldie White; his son Jasman Williams; his granddaughter Kierra Renee Landers.
Rickey Wayne White, Sr. is survived and loved by his wife, Michelle White of Tulia, his sister Rita Clay of Tulia, his sons: Cecil Jackson (Shannon) of Amarillo, Donnie Smith of Tulia, Rickey Smith (Roxanne) of Tulia, Kareem White of Tulia, Chris Pollard (Cynthia) of Little Elm, Alex Casel of Lubbock, Damareus White of Amarillo, Delwin Williams of Tulia, and honorary son Ronnie Jackson of Amarillo; and his daughters: Tonya Adams of Tulia, Kizzie Gibson (Kedric) of Keller, Natalie Turner (Kendall) of Dallas, Brittany White of Lubbock, and Markayla Williams (Tre) of Little Elm , along with 71 grandchildren, 39 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, loved ones and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, September 21, 2024 in the First Baptist Church with Pastor Tyson Willis officiating and Missionary Pamela Jackson assisting. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Tulia. A wake will be held at 5:30 to 7:00 PM, Friday, September 20, 2024 at the funeral home.
