Robert L. Saltzman, 86, passed away on Sunday, February 25, 2018. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, February 28, 2018 in the Kornerstone Funeral Directors Chapel with Brad Snellgrove, pastor of Harvest Christian Fellowship officiating. Cremation arrangements are under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. Robert was born on July 25, 1931 in Wagner, South Dakota. Robert served in the United States Air Force for 30 years and did 2 tours during the Vietnam War and retired as a Chief Master Sergeant. After his retirement from the Air Force, he attended the University of New Mexico and earned a degree in History. Upon graduation the university offered him a job managing the bookstore which he did for several years. Robert was married to Lucia Maria Saltzman who they had six children. His friends knew him as Chief. He was an excellent baker and made the best homemade bread. He was also loved football and his favorite teams were the Norte Dame Fighting Irish and the Dallas Cowboys. Robert was an active member of the Optimist Club and the American Legion. His wife, who he always called “Tweeky”, passed away in August of 2010. He missed her terribly and told his children on numerous occasions that he was ready to be reunited with her, so they take comfort knowing they are together again in Heaven. He was also preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Betty Youngblood. Robert is survived by his six children, Colleen Kuller and husband Glenn of Orlando, Florida, Robin McClanahan of Plainview, Robert Saltzman of Austin, Nick Saltzman and wife Elaine of San Diego, California, Linda Wallis and husband Jim of Edgewood, New Mexico, Beth Galentine of Washington, Pennsylvania; 10 Grandchildren and 12 Great Grandchildren.
