Roma Swindle (Plainview)

Roma Lee Clemmer Swindle, 94, of Plainview, Texas passed away on Tuesday, January 25, 2022 in Wheeler, Texas. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, February 1, 2022 at Kornerstone Funeral Directors Chapel in Plainview, Texas with Rev. Donna Lindley, pastor of First United Methodist Church of Hart, Texas officiating. Burial will be beside Bill, in the Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Abilene, Texas on Wednesday, February 2, 2022 at 11:00, under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors in Plainview, Texas. Roma Lee was born on July 30, 1927, in Hamlin, Texas to James Robertus Clemmer and Lottie Lucille Jones Clemmer. She married Billy Lavance Swindle on May 7, 1947, in Plainview, Texas. She graduated from Silverton High School and Draughn's Business College. She and Bill raised their family in Hart, Texas where she was employed by Hart Grain for over 25 years. After Bill retired from farming, they moved to Plainview, Texas where she was employed by Wayne Adair, CPA and then Williams Rogers Agency as office manager until her retirement in 1992. While living in Plainview, Roma was very active in the High Plains Genealogy Society chapter, the Mary McCoy Baines DAR chapter and the Laureate Gamma Eta Beta Sigma Phi chapter. She was known for her smile and saying "Love you, Love You, Love You" to her children, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. Roma Lee is preceded in death by her husband of 70 years; her parents; one son, Jim Swindle; one daughter in law, Nancy Swindle and one son in law, Danny Dorman; one brother; Gene Clemmer; two sisters- JoAnn Suter and Lucy Souter. She is survived by two children-Margaret Dorman of Wheeler, Texas and Jerry Swindle of Sweetwater, Texas, and daughter in law Altah Swindle of Lubbock, Texas; Two brothers, Buford Clemmer and wife Wanda of Amarillo and James Clemmer of Silverton; one sister-in-law Jaynie Lilley of Plainview, Texas; Six Grandchildren: Dee Dee Green and husband Scott and his children, McCay, Branton and Beckett Dever, Paityn Green and Hayes Green; Dedra Morgan and husband Bradd; Darby Dorman and wife Kristin, Brooke Swindle, Wade Swindle and wife Shannon and Gregg Swindle. Six great grandchildren: Matthew Smith and wife Cortnee; Kori Workman and husband Bobby; Makenna Morgan, Rhett Morgan, Rueger Swindle and Rhoan Swindle; Five great great grandchildren-Brant and Blair Smith and Brayson, Britton and Brooks Workman and numerous special nieces and nephews.
