Ruby Dale Ellerd (Plainview)

Ruby Dale Miller Ellerd, 98, of Petersburg passed away on Thursday, June 8, 2023. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, June 13, 2023 in the Petersburg Cemetery with Mr. Sven Appleton officiating. Arrangements are under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. A visitation will be held on Monday evening starting at 6:00 P.M. at Kornerstone. Ruby was born on February 5,1925 in Happy, Texas to Ellis L. & Minerva Gibbs Miller. She grew up in Petersburg and attended schools there. She married Mark Ellerd on November 8, 1945 in Clovis, New Mexico. She worked for White Drug before working for the Petersburg School Cafeteria for 20 plus years. Ruby was known for walking all over Petersburg. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Petersburg for many years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Mark Ellerd; son, Vernal Carl Ellerd, and 3 sisters and 2 brothers, her parents. Ruby is survived by her children, Eddy Smith of Denver, Colorado, James Ellerd of Levelland, and Oma Ellerd Rycroft of Midwest City, OK; 6 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.
