He was born March 30, 1935 in Booneville, Arkansas to Ishmal and Vearl (Tomblin) Abbott and was a precious part of a loving family of three brothers and two sisters. Rusty married his love Lavern Cookston on October 9, 1954 in Sayre, Oklahoma. He proudly served our country in the U.S. Air Force with a deployment to Korea. He worked for Fred Garrison Oil Company for 53 years. He was a mechanic, truck driver and oil house manager, which he recently retired from in February of this year. He was a mentor to and respected by many. Rusty never met a stranger. He enjoyed cooking, hunting, fishing, gardening and telling jokes. When not at work he would be in the backyard tinkering with something and always had his sweet four legged fur baby, Sugar Two, by his side. His favorite times were the summers when we had our yearly Abbott Family Reunion which began in 1974 and he never missed one. He loved being around his siblings, nieces and nephews and will be greatly missed by many. He is survived by his loving children, Carletta York and husband Alan of Sayre, OK, Randy Abbott and wife Donna of Plainview, TX, Kelli Hunter and husband Lee of Sayre, OK; two siblings, Cliff Abbott of Plainview and Norma Calloway of Snyder; two brother-in-laws, Bill Cookston and wife Rozlyn and Howard Shook; nine grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews that all loved him immensely. He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife; two brothers, Earl Abbott and Coy Bershers; a sister, Ruby Green; two brothers-in-law, Dale Callaway and Sonny Cookston, two sisters-in-law, Dorthy Richardson and Gladys Shook and father and mother-in-law, Fred and Sylvia Cookston.
