Steve Douglas, 62, The minivan with two ladders on top is now permanently parked. Steve died on January, 24, 2018, of a worn-out, much used heart. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, January 27, 2018 at Kornerstone Funeral Directors Chapel with Terry Purvis-Smith officiating. Arrangements are under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. Steve was born on January 19, 1956 to Robert S. & Frankye Douglas in Plainview, Texas. He will be remembered as a loving father, great friend, generous person and Plainview's "Telephone Man." With his father, he owned Douglas Telecom for 25 years, and worked relentlessly to help businesses around the region stay connected. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed camping and hunting but his greatest joys in life came from his children and grandchildren. In his last moments, he was surrounded by his friends and family. Steve was preceded in death by his parents Robert S. & Frankye Douglas. He is survived by four children, Tiffany Dawson & husband Ken of Vancouver, WA, Amanda Griffin & husband Robert of Ft. Worth, TX, Matthew Benishek of Lubbock, TX and Stevie Poole & husband Jeffrey of Lubbock, TX; one brother, Gary Douglas & wife Linda of Amarillo; two sisters, Sherri Elkins of Amarillo, TX and Cathy Pritchard of Abilene, TX; nephew, Michael Douglas of Arlington, TX; niece, Cassidy Pritchard of Denver, CO; four grandchildren, Zach Benishek, Sarah Benishek, Taylor Mott and Michael Dawson and one great granddaughter, Olivia Mott.
