T. C. Gattis (Plainview)

T.C. Gattis, 80, of Plainview passed away in his sleep on Wednesday afternoon, July 12, 2023. A visitation will be held on Sunday, July 16th at 2:00 pm at Kornerstone Funeral Directors Chapel in Plainview, Texas. A Celebration of Life service will be held on Monday, July 17th at 2:00 pm at First Baptist Church Plainview with Dr. Jacob West officiating.

T.C. was born on October 11, 1942 to T.C. and Mary Gattis in Denison, Texas. He grew up on a farm outside of Pottsboro, Texas with his 7 siblings. He graduated from Denison High School and then attended Texas Tech University where he graduated with a degree in Mechanized Agricultural. He married Judy Marcheta Tapp on August 30, 1964. He worked for Allis-Chalmers for several years before buying into JMS Equipment here in Plainview. He and Judy raised two children, Marcheta and T. Leslie and he served at FBC since the 70’s. TC loved being a part of the farming community and helping generations of families grow their family farms. He took great pride knowing he helped grandfather, son, and grandson carry on their family traditions. He also loved his family and was devoted to providing for them. He was a doting Paw-Paw to Rebecca, Rachel, Rhesa, Tiffany and Tyler. When he became a Great-Paw-paw to Wrenley, he kicked it up a notch. Most of you have seen the pictures to prove it. His favorite past times were selling farm equipment, watching Texas Tech Football, and fishing. But winding up the grandkids and tickling them was his all-time favorite activity.

T.C. is preceded in death by his parents T.C. & Mary Gattis, brothers Bob and Homer Gattis and grandson Joseph Key.

He is survived by his wife Judy Gattis, Daughter and son-in-law, Marcheta and Gene Key, Son and daughter-in-law, T. Leslie & Lori Gattis. Five lovingly-rotten grandkids Rebecca White and husband Dustin, Rachel Mott and husband Mason, Rhesa Key, Tiffany Gattis and Tyler Gattis. One lovingly extra-rotten great-granddaughter Wrenley White. Sisters Mary Jo Evans, Ruthie Ryan, & Margaret Elliott, Sister-in-laws Donna Gattis, Jan Gattis, Brenda Hughes husband Robert, and Connie Bandy. Brothers David Gattis and his wife Linda, James Gattis and his wife Sheila. Many nephews and nieces that he loved to aggravate.

The family suggest that memorials in memory of T.C. be made to the First Baptist Church Plainview Sanctuary renovation project.
