Thomas Dale "Tommy" McMillan (Plainview)

Thomas Dale “Tommy” McMillan, 67, of Plainview passed away on September 5, 2021.  Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 9, 2021 at 10:00 A.M. in the First Baptist Church Sanctuary with Mr. Danny Andrews officiating.  Burial will follow in Plainview Memorial Park under the direction of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday evening, September 8, 2021 at Wilder Field of Wayland Baptist University from 6:00 to 7:30 P.M.

Tommy was born on October 30, 1953 in Lubbock, Texas to Denzil and Jeane McMillan. Tommy grew up in Plainview and played basketball and baseball for Plainview High School.  He graduated from PHS in 1972.  After high school, he attended Texas Tech University and graduated in 1976.  While at Texas Tech he played baseball for the Red Raiders.  He married Susan Kruzensk on January 7, 1977 in Lubbock, TX.  Tommy was an accountant for over 30 years.  After he retired from accounting, he became the assistant baseball coach for Wayland Baptist University.  This was his dream job.  He was involved with the Wayland Baseball program from 2007-2021.  Tommy was an active member of First Baptist Church and served as a deacon and served on many committees.  Tommy was also very involved in the community.  He was Lion’s Club president, Optimist president, Bulldog Booster Club president.  He was heavily involved with the local, regional, and national Babe Ruth Baseball program.  He umpired many Babe Ruth regional and world series tournaments.  He was also the regional commissioner for many SW regional tournaments that were held in Plainview.

Tommy was preceded in death by his parents, Denzil and Doris Jeane McMillan and son-in-law, James Johnston.

Survivors include his wife Susan McMillan of Plainview; daughter, Lori Johnston of Plainview; son, Chance McMillan and wife Kelsey of Planview; brother, Ronnie McMillan and wife Dawn of Frisco; five grandchildren, Rileigh Johnston, Madeline Johnston, Grayson McMillan, Cameron McMillan, Lane Thomas McMillan; and his sister-in-law, Pat Casey and husband Kevin of Plainview.
