Tulia, Texas—Tom W. Carlisle, affectionately known as “Pawk” to his grandchildren and great grandchildren, passed away from this life on November 2, 2018. Tom was born on July 1, 1924 in O’Brien, Texas to Tom W. and Irene Carlisle. He grew up in O’Brien and graduated there. He proudly served in the Merchant Marines during WWII and one of his great memories is getting too make the Honor Flight to Washington, D.C. a few years ago. He married the love of his life, Frankie Dean Redwine on December 4, 1946. They moved to Olton, Texas where they farmed and began their family. They all have many fond memories of life on the farm in Olton. In 1965, the family moved to Tulia where Tom ran the Lakeview Gin west of town. In 1970 he and his wife moved to Amarillo, Texas. He worked for Oil Transport until his retirement. After he retired, Tom and Frankie decided they would like to move back to Tulia because, that seemed like home and they cherished the many friendships they had made when they lived there earlier. In 2005 they moved to a retirement village in Denton, Texas where they could be closer to their oldest daughter and she could help care for them. Tom is preceded in death by his father and mother, Tom and Irene Carlisle; his wife, Frankie; his three brothers, Irby, Doug and Herbert, Jr.; his sister, Bernadine; and a grandson, Brandon Cody Carlisle. Survivors include: daughter, Donna and husband Dwight Carter of Denton, Texas; son, Buttons and wife Kathy Carlisle of Tulia, Texas; and daughter, Judy and husband James Shannon of Abernathy, Texas. Tom is survived by nine grandchildren, twenty-one great grandchildren and one on the way and many nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, November 6, 2018 in Rose Hill Cemetery under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Tulia.
