Tommy Lee Thompson (Plainview

Tommy Lee Thompson, 69 of Petersburg was called home to the Lord on Thursday, June 15, 2023. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Monday, June 19, 2023 at First Baptist Church in Petersburg, Texas with Gabe Moudy officiating. Interment will follow in Petersburg Cemetery. Arrangements are under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview.

Tommy was born on September 13, 1953 to W.B. & Juanita Thompson. He graduated from Plainview High School in 1972. That year he started working for the Petersburg Police Department. In 1976 He Started his job with the Hale County Sheriff’s Office. He retired from the S.O. in 2013. In 1978 he met and married Carolyn Bankston. From that union they had two children, William Brice (Bubba) Thompson and Ami Jean Thompson.

He is preceded in death by his Parents, W.B. Thompson & Juanita Thompson and two brothers, Donald (Whitey) Thompson and Ronnie Thompson.

Tommy is survived by his wife of 45 years, Carolyn Bankston Thompson; one sister, Lou Bevill; one son, William (Bubba) Thompson & wife Pam; one daughter, Ami Thompson; seven grandchildren he loved with all his heart who lovingly called him Pop, Justice Thompson, Jude Thompson, Linnie Thompson, Tori Thompson, Abbi Thompson, Maycelynn Thompson and Tinlee Thompson and many nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, cousins and friends.

The family suggests memorials be made to the Leukemia Foundation or the Sheriff’s Association of Texas.
