Tulia, Texas-Tommy Lee White, Sr. entered into eternal rest on December 29, 2018. Tommy was born on August 10, 1939 in Borger, Texas to Willie and Dearo [Jones] White. The family later moved to multiple locations including Seagoville and Memphis, Texas where he grew up and attended public school.
In his early years, Tommy married his first wife Gracie from Dallas, TX. As he transitioned through life, he later met Bobbie [Winters] of Shreveport, LA; and, married her on January 11, 1973 in Huntsville, TX. They settled and grew their family in Shreveport, LA. There, Tommy became an affluent entrepreneur and business owner by starting multiple businesses including a successful welding company. As an expert welder, he was the go-to-guy for residential and commercial security bars. Tommy affectionately became known as “The Burglar Bar Man" professionally and “Pops” to those who knew him well.
In 1984, Tommy relocated to Tulia, TX where he worked in the trucking, farming and welding industries until the day of his sunset.
He was preceded in death by his parents Willie and Dearo White, his sisters Missionary Maetta Lewis and Evangelist Patsy Tatum, and his brothers Melvin Brown, Herbert White and Bennie White.
Those who will lovingly cherish the memory of Tommy White, Sr. are his wife Bobbie White of Shreveport, LA; 5 children: Melvin Parker of Amarillo, TX, Veronica Barnes of Arlington, TX, Tonyette White of Tulia, TX, Tommy (Tracy) White of Pensacola, FL and Keyonna Boyd of Tulia, TX, 11 grandchildren and 4 great-grand children. He is also survived by his two brothers Aldie White, Rickey (Michelle) White, his sister Rita Clay [all of Tulia, Texas] and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, loved ones and friends.
A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, January 5, 2019 at 12:00 PM at the Kornerstone Funeral Directors Chapel with Rev. Matthew Veals officiating and Mr. Tyson Willis assisting. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery Tulia, Texas. Funeral arrangements are under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Tulia.
A viewing will be held on Friday, January 4, 2019 at 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM at Kornerstone Funeral Directors.
A wake for the family will be held on Friday, January 4, 2019 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM Friday at the Kornerstone Funeral Directors Chapel.
