Tulia, Texas—Virgie Beth Webb, 85, passed from this earth peacefully in the early hours of September 26, 2021, reunited with her husband of 54 years on what would have been his 89th birthday. As one of Virgie's nephews said on facebook - "Heaven got one of the best today." God's word assures us that she is now made new and all of us who love her find great peace in this promise.
A service honoring Virgie's life will be held Saturday, October 2, 2021 at 11:00 am in the Central Church of Christ in Tulia, Texas. She will be laid to rest by her husband at the Rose Hill Cemetery, Tulia, Texas. There will be a time of visitation with the family on Friday, October 1, from 5:00 - 6:30 pm at Kornerstone Funeral Directors, Tulia, Texas.
Virgie was born the second beautiful daughter to Herbert and Johanna Klaevemann in Nordheim, Texas on October 6, 1935. Virgie and her sister, Joan, grew up in the Nordheim community with a loving family and lots of cousins. They often told of the Christmas Eve traditions enjoyed going to each family's house. She was blessed by her large family. Virgie was very proud of her strong German heritage.
After graduating from Nordheim, Virgie went to school in San Antonio. She soon met the love of her life, Morris, while he was completing Optometry School at the University of Houston. They married on April 9, 1960, in Nordheim. Virgie was blessed with even more family marrying into the Webb clan. She treasured this family and loved all the brothers and sisters-in-law she gained. Morris and Virgie lived in Plainview where Morris began his optometry career with his dad, and later moved to Tulia to start his own optometric practice. Morris and Virgie put their roots down in this great town and raised their family in Tulia, faithfully involved with civic, school and church activities. Virgie served the Central Church of Christ as secretary for many years and most importantly, she served by Morris' side supporting him as an elder of the church and in his ministry with the His Image Singers. Virgie also worked closely with Morris in his optometry practice, both of them known and loved in this community for their service and generosity. Most importantly, Virgie was Granny to her seven grandchildren, who were the light of her life. They were so lucky to have the "best Granny in the world." Morris and Virgie were truly one and it is with great joy we know they are now reunited. All of us who love Virgie will miss her incredible gentle spirit, giving heart, sweet laughter, and her famous “Virgie dishes” that everyone loved to eat and enjoy around her kitchen table, at a church potluck, or holiday gathering with family.
Virgie lost many she loved deeply during her life - her parents, her husband Morris to whom she was married 54 years prior to his passing in 2014, and her oldest son, Russell who passed away in 2016 leaving a hole in her heart that remained till the end. She also lost her cherished nephew Tommy Smith, and her brothers-in-law Gordon Smith, Dale Webb and Dr. Edgar Webb.
Family that loves her dearly are daughter-in-law Mary Ellen Webb of Port Ritchie, FL, daughter Johanna Caviness of Bedford, TX, son David (Marilyn) Webb of Colleyville, TX, seven grandchildren she treasured – Annie Webb, Jeannine Webb, Andrew (Kim) Caviness, Abby Caviness, Kyle Webb, Cade Webb, and Sara Webb. She is survived by her sister, Joan Smith of Yorktown, TX. She is also survived by her loving in-laws Dee Webb of Danville, IN, Dr. Stewart and Pat Webb of Plainview, TX, Pete and Linda Webb of Rockwall, TX and Clem and Sue Webb of Beaumont, TX. She has many nieces and nephews who loved their Aunt Virgie and cousins and friends who truly treasured her in their lives.
Memorials may be made in her name to Camp Blue Haven Foundation, Box 417, Marble Falls, Texas 78654; Sunset School of Preaching Adventures in Missions (AIM) Program, 3723 34th Street, Lubbock, TX 79410; or High Plains Children’s Home, 11461 S. Western St., Amarillo, TX 79118.
