He enlisted into the U.S. Navy and served as a Navy Diver 18 months before being honorably discharged due to a farm hardship back home. He was a farmer for many years. This love for cycling forged a bond with 4 other cyclists in the area that he lived in California. They rode together three times a week and Wayne received much ribbing because of his Texas accent and his effortless Chatter. Wayne moved back to Hale Center in 2018 after living the last 30 years in California. Wayne was also preceded in death by his parents: and brother Donald Edward Raymond. Survivors include his brother, Larry Dean Raymond and wife Catherine of Ennis; sister, Kathy Ann Blount and husband Shane; his uncle Charles and aunt Faye Waters; aunts, Jimmie Campbell and Joyce Handcock; daughter-in-laws, Jackie and Kenny Grendyke of California and Pamela Levy also of California; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
