Winnie Faye Fleming (Plainview)

Winnie Faye Fleming, 92, of Plainview, Texas joined her Lord and Saviour on Saturday, February 18, 2023. Funeral service will be held 2:00 P.M. Friday, February 24, 2023 at Kornerstone Funeral Directors Chapel with Steve Martin officiating. Interment will follow at Plainview Cemetery. Arrangements are under the care or Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview.

A visitation will be held 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. Thursday, February 23, 2023 at Kornerstone Funeral Directors.

Winnie was born August 19, 1930 in Kress, Texas to Joe and Velma Evans. She grew up in Kress and Halfway. She graduated from Plainview High School in 1948. She later graduated from Nursing School from West Texas Hospital School Of Nursing on May 31, 1952. Winnie married Elmer D. Fleming in November of 1952 and they moved to the farm in Lorenzo, Texas where she bacame a traveling nurse for all the surrounding schools.  In 1962 Winnie stopped being a full time nurse so that she could be a housewife and mother to her children. Her pride and joy were her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.  She was a member of the Halfway Baptist Church and attended regulary for decades as well as volunteering to work at the Buckner home for children, She was also a volunteer for hospice and was part of a quilting club and has made more quilts than can be counted. Winnie and Dwayne were also avid travelers and have visited almost every state including Hawaii and Alaska. 

She is preceded in death by her parents Joe and Velma Evans; her husband, Elmer D Fleming; one brother, Allen Evans and one sister, Betty McGary.

She is survived by her three children, Kevin Fleming of Amarillo, Texas, Karen Phares of Plainview, Texas, Kelly Fleming and wife Charisa of Amarillo, Texas; one brother, Billy Evans and wife Edna of Kress, Texas; one sister, Irene Caudle of Lubbock, Texas; nine grandchildren, Koltin Fleming, Kasey Fleming Jones, Chelsea Fleming, Kassie Idicula, Shayla Phares, Dylan Phares, Chesney Fleming, Kinsley Fleming, Octavia Fleming and six great grandchildren, Jakob Ewing, Skya Powers, Deklan Powers, Grayson Idicula, Jack Jones and Kynadee Fleming.
