Yolanda Villegas,78, a beloved member of the Tulia community, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 27, 2024. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, October 30, 2024 in the Catholic Church of the Holy Spirit with Father Hector Madrigal officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Tulia.
A rosary will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 PM, Tuesday October 29, 2024 at Kornerstone Chapel.
Yolanda was born on November 22, 1945, in Houston, Texas, to Rey and Esperanza Jimenez. She married her best friend, Richard Villegas, on October 23, 1962, in Dimmitt, and the couple moved to Roll-A-Cone for about ten years and later made Tulia their cherished home.
Yolanda was a woman of perseverance and ambition. She pursued her education rigorously, obtaining her GED and later earning certification in Cosmetology.
Yolanda's professional journey was a testament to her dedication and creativity. From her roles at Mimie's Salon and Pat's Beauty Salon to owning her hair salon, Hair Design and Trendz and Merle Norman Studio, left an indelible mark in the beauty industry, working forty years as a hairdresser. Together with Richard, she ventured into the culinary domain by establishing the popular Koffee Korner. In her retirement, she extended her expertise to her daughter's floral venture, The Wild Ivy, and proudly managed Dos Chicas Coffee and Yole's Eats and Treats. A devout servant of her faith, Yolanda exemplified devotion through her active involvement in the Catholic Church of the Holy Spirit. As a Eucharistic Minister and lector, she shared her unwavering faith with the community. Yolanda's dedication extended beyond the church walls, as she founded marriage classes and embraced her role as a Guadalupana. Yolanda's passion for cooking and baking brought joy to many, complementing her generous spirit and hospitable nature. She cherished the camaraderie of her colleagues at the various establishments she managed, recognizing the invaluable contributions of Sylvia, Gloria, Maria, Samantha, Jamie, Linda, Patsy, Rosa, Kirby, Mimi, CJ, Sylvia C., Sharon, Tesla, Shanea. Her sidekicks, Natazia and Maye and all the other ladies who worked along her side. Yolanda Villegas was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, nurturing tight familial bonds and fostering togetherness across generations. In honoring the memory of Yolanda J. Villegas, we celebrate a life lived with purpose, love, and unwavering faith, leaving a legacy that will endure for years to come.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Rey and Esperanza Jimenez, her in-laws, Juan Villegas and wife Guadalupe, her angel daughter, Michelle Villegas, her siblings, Rey Jr. Jimenez and Gloria Florez, her brothers- in-law, Robert Rodriguez, Brent Tutor and Fermine Florez, her beloved grandson, Brandon Guerra.
She is survived by her husband, Richard Villegas of Tulia, her children, Bobby Villegas and wife Jamie of Tulia, Christina Villegas of Tulia, Jessica Villegas Guerra and husband Mike of Tulia, her siblings, Sylvia Rodriguez of Tulia, Becky Tutor of Carrolton, TX, Gilbert Jimenez and wife Georgia of Cedar Park, TX, her grandchildren, Beau, Micheala, Bobby and Jaqueline Villegas, Andrew, Leah Michelle Cruz, Ivy Criswell and husband Tate, Bryan Guerra, her great granddaughter, Everly Ann Castillo and Baby Criswell on the way.
