On October 7, 2024, Yvonne Nevins went home to her Lord and Savior. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Monday, October 14th, 2024, at Central Church of Christ with burial following at Rose Hill Cemetery. Funeral services are under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Tulia.
Yvonne was born September 12th, 1945, in Flomont, Texas to R.A. and Marie White. She attended Flomont and Tulia schools and graduated from Tulia High School in 1964. On December 21, 1963, she married Wayne Nevins, and they were married for over 61 years. After graduation, she worked for the Tulia School System. In 1966, Wayne was drafted into the U.S. Army and served for 2 years, including a tour in the Vietnam War, and when he returned, she joined him in Colorado Springs, Colorado until the end of his service. Once back in Tulia, Missy was born in 1969 and then Trey in 1971. Yvonne worked at Taylor and Evans Seed Co. and then at the Texas Department of Transportation. In 2005, Yvonne received the Woman of the Year award for her service to the community. In her retirement, she volunteered for several years.
Yvonne enjoyed painting and crafts and most of all, her family, children, and grandchildren. Yvonne loved the Lord and she and her family attended the Sixth Street Church of Christ and then the Central Church of Christ in Tulia. Yvonne was a prayer warrior and taught her family to place God first in their lives. She also attended as many Bible Studies as possible.
Yvonne is preceded in death by her parents, an infant brother William, a brother Calvin and his wife Frieda, a brother Mickey, and her husband Wayne. She is survived by her daughter Missy and husband Kyle Evans of Lubbock, her son Trey and wife Lisa of McKinney, her brother Ray White and wife Myrna of Sand Springs, Oklahoma, her brother Paul White and Lisa of Fort Worth, and sister-in-law Linda White of Corpus Christi. Yvonne is also survived by her sister-in-law Shirley Sutterfield of Lockney, her brother-in-law Ken and wife Debbie of Sweetwater, her brother-in-law Dale and wife Carol of Canyon, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and other family members. She is also survived by those who know Yvonne as MeeMee - grandchildren Kayla, Jenny and husband Austin, Jarrett, Tyler, Noah, Preston, and Avery and one great-grandson Tucker.
The family recommends memorials be made to the Tulia Central Church of Christ, Tulia Senior Citizens, or a children’s home. The family would especially like to thank Sherri Gaunder for her love and care, who loved Yvonne like family.
