Zula Culwell (Tulia)

Vigo Park, Texas-Zula Culwell, 86, passed away on Sunday, January 12, 2020. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 16, 2020 at 2:00 PM in the Vigo Park Community Church with Rev. Archie Echols officiating. Burial will follow in the Wayside Cemetery in Wayside. Zula was born on March 27, 1933 in Tulia to Abner and Addie Shoemaker. She grew up in Tulia and attended Tulia Schools. She married Dayle Culwell on September 2, 1948. They lived in the Wayside area until 1966 when they moved to Vigo Park. She was a homemaker. She was a member of the Vigo Park Methodist Church. She was an avid Bowler. She loved decorating, sewing and quilting. She was loved by everyone she met. Most importantly she loved watching grandkids and great grandkids playing sports. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Dayle, one brother: Fred Shoemaker and one sister: Delila Arterburn. She is survived by her daughter: Dian Heidler and husband Ron of Las Vegas, Nevada, two sons: Greg Culwell and wife Jill of Vigo Park and Mike Culwell and wife Linda of Wayside. Two brothers: Abner Shoemaker of Tulsa and Jerry Shoemaker of Dallas, nine grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren. Memorials may be made to the Tulia Love Fund.
