A memorial service will be held on Monday, March 28, 2022, at 11:00 am At the Central Church of Christ with Mr. Trey Morgan officiating. Cremation arrangements are under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Tulia.
Myrna was born July 7, 1940, in Groom Texas to Varse and Annie Nathan (Cassle) Trussell. She was the middle child of Varse and Annie, and the oldest of the two girls. The family relocated to Amarillo where Myrna attended Palo Duro High School. She would later receive her CNA License and pin in Floydada, Texas. On August 18, 1958, she married her beloved Harold Wayne Dickey. In 1968 Harold and Myrna would relocate to Tulia, Texas where they raised their family.
Myrna was an incredibly devoted woman to any task she took on. She worked so hard to help provide for her family. She spent time as a clothing inspector and worked for many years in various fabric stores. Myrna spent the better part of 20 years working as a CNA in the Tulia Nursing Home and the Swisher Memorial Hospital. Along the way, she would help build several family-owned businesses until her retirement in 2011. Even in retirement, she continued to help run those businesses. Myrna was also a devoted member of the Church of Christ and a member of the Golden Spread Gem, Mineral and Treasure Society of Amarillo.
Myrna found great joy in just about anything. She loved to stay busy. She baked cakes, holiday cookies, banana bread, Meringue pies, and even a few wedding cakes and birthday cakes. She loved to spend time with her pups; Little Bit and Nox (her grandson Cole’s dog whom she bonded with), reading a good novel, craft shopping; painting, sewing, making clothes, crocheting, jewelry working, and just about everything one could do to occupy time. Myrna thoroughly enjoyed a good chicken fried steak. She also found pleasure in the spur-of-the-moment road trips to just get away for a minute, or to see the lake where she would go catfishing. And not to be forgotten was her love for gospel music by artists such as His Image Singers, Elvis Presley, Josh Turner, Randy Travis, and Alan Jackson.
Myrna is preceded in death by her parents, her beloved Harold, Daughter; Karen Sue “Sissy” Dickey, son-in-law; Lee Barlow, brother; Winvell Trussell, sister; Jerry Young and grandson; Joshua Dickey. Those left to cherish her memories are her sons; Carl Dickey of Fritch, Texas and Steve Dickey and wife Teresa of Fritch Texas, and daughter; Gigi Barlow of Canyon, Texas. Myrna or Nanny as she was known, also leaves a legacy of four grandchildren; J’ami Barrett and husband Clint of Aubrey, Texas, Lori Sammons and husband Robert of Amarillo, Kassidy McDonald and husband Dusty of Canyon, Texas and Cole Barlow of Canyon, Texas; as well as five great grandchildren; Paige and Ben Barrett, Czrina, David and Rayden Sammons. Myrna also leaves behind many other loving family members and dear friends whom she treasured in every special way.
