Rene Funkhouser (Tulia)

Kress- Texas--Jana Rene Funkhouser, 66, of Kress, Texas, went to be with Christ on March 29, 2023. Services will be held at First Baptist Church of Hobart, Oklahoma on Saturday, April 8 at 11:00 AM.  Arrangements are under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Tulia. Rene was born on January 18, 1957, to Robert Ray and Jody Gould in Tulia, Texas. After graduating from Webbers Falls High School in 1975 she progressed to Bacone College where she excelled in her nursing studies. Soon after graduating, she began work as a nurse at Elkview General Hospital in Hobart, Oklahoma. In 1977, she met Luke Funkhouser, and they were wed on July 1, 1978. They went on to have three children, Daniel Ross, Erin Rene, and Amy Beth. Rene continued her studies and earned a master’s degree in nursing in 2000. She practiced as a Family Nurse Practitioner for 13 years. After her retirement in 2013, Rene spent her time at home, loving her husband and looking after her two shelties, Seamus and Lexa.

Rene is preceded in death by her brother Paul Gould. She is survived by her husband, Luke Funkhouser; her son, Daniel Funkhouser; her daughter, Erin Funkhouser Broadway; and her daughter, Amy Funkhouser Escamilla; father, Robert Gould; mother, Joveta Gould, and brother Bryan Gould.
