Sharon Iona Brown Harrison, 64, of Lubbock, TX, passed away on Friday, December 8, 2023. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, December 12, 2023 in the chapel of Kornerstone Funeral Directors, 3605 SW 3rd, Plainview, TX. Visitation will be held from 6-8 PM Monday, December 11, 2023 at the funeral home. Sharon was born September 10, 1959, in Odessa, TX to Arnold Dean and Dorothy Wray Brown. During her youth, she lived in Odessa, Carlsbad, Portales, Dalhart, and Plainview. Due to their parents’ failing health, she and her brother, David, were blessed to be cared for in adolescence by their aunt and uncle, Melvin and Fay Gregg. Sharon graduated from Plainview High School in 1978 and had over 40 years’ experience working as an administrative assistant, office manager, and a full charge bookkeeper. Her most recent employers were Damron State Farm Agency and Scott's Complete Car Care. She attended Biblical Ministries Church in Lubbock. While in school, Sharon participated in 4-H and the Vocational Office Education activities. She also enjoyed the Square Dance Club. In most recent years, she was an active participant within the Lubbock Area Republican Women’s organization and enjoyed watching live rodeo events and cooking with her granddaughters. Many hours were spent crocheting scarves and blankets for friends and loved ones, while watching “Reba” and “Gilmore Girls,” as her favorite kitties slept nearby. Any time spent with her family brought her utmost joy! Sharon was preceded in death by son, Dusty Wayne Helton, father, Arnold Dean Brown, mother, Dorothy Merle Wray McConnell, aunt, Leota Fay Brown Gregg and uncle, Aaron Melvin Gregg. Sharon was a woman of great joy and unwavering faith, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of those who knew her. She is survived by children, Misti Dawn Damron (Joel) and Brandon Michael Helton (Samantha) all of Lubbock, TX and brother David Brown (Vanessa) of Amarillo, TX. Her legacy extends through the generations, as she was “Nana” to seven grandchildren: Madison Damron, Logan Bostick, Jameson Damron, Luke Bostick, Brennon Damron, Kaitlynn Helton and Addison Helton. She also leaves behind many other beloved family and friends. A woman of strength and grace, Sharon’s deep connection to her faith was a guiding light, and her love for God mirrored the love she had for her family. Her memory will live on in the hearts of those who were touched by her kindness, wisdom, and the enduring beauty of her spirit. Memorials may be made in Sharon’s honor to New Mexico Christian Children’s Home, 1356 NM 236, Portales, NM 88130 or to your favorite charity.
